Argus Fire was founded in 1981 and brought together New Zealand's leading fire protection specialists, providing you with extensive industry expertise and a demonstrated working knowledge of all existing fire protection systems, products and standards. This has resulted in outstanding client loyalty demonstrated by Argus retaining 90 of the clients they held 20 years ago. Argus provides fire protection solutions to suit our clients' needs we do not tailor our clients' needs to suit our products and services. It is also important to note that Argus looks to the future to ensure that their clients' property and people are protected now and as their business continues to grow. Argus promotes an active culture of professional development and supports all team members through ongoing training to ensure continual experiential learning and skills development. Overseeing Argus Fire Protection business operations and client relationships is Managing Director Jacqui Bensemann.
Jacqui has 25 years experience in the fields of banking, public accountancy, management consultancy and general management both in New Zealand and the United Kingdom. Laurie McArthur has 30 years experience in the fire protection industry both in New Zealand and the Pacific Islands, and along with his strong background in the fire protection industry he has exceptional knowledge in sprinkler and related systems. Laurie has spent a number of years working in the Central North Island and Bay of Plenty regions where he has had hands on design and project management experience on all types of fire protection projects which include power generation plants, Defence Force projects, high rise buildings, shopping malls, industrial complexes and correction facilities. Ben has experience of over 24 years in Financial and Management Accounting being involved from corporate New Zealand to midsize companies.
Aaron joined the Argus Group in 2003 having completed tertiary studies in computers and multimedia. Aaron commenced in the business as a fire alarm technician and his leadership and technical skills have seen him follow a promotional path from Supervisor, Alarms Manager, Contracts Manager, Branch Manager and then into his current role as Company Technology Strategy Manager. Over his time with Argus, Aaron has been involved with providing technical support, design assistance and project management for specialist high end fire alarm and special hazard projects

Hard work was required and this is best described by the hard to beat record of a team of 5 sprinkler fitters completing 360 heads on pipe in one weekend.
The current shareholders the Bensemann family, Graeme Mander, Bruce Sheppard, and Ian Maclean purchased the Argus business in 1991 and added to it in 1993 with the purchase of the Fletcher Fire Protection business north of Taupo . This brought in the fire alarm business and significantly increased the service business for the Argus portfolio which it has built on since. It is with a great deal of pride Argus can say that 90 of the clients they held in 1993 are still with them. He together with the some of the other shareholders in Argus, were the founders of Benefis, which was sold. It is testament to the strength of the Argus company that this tragedy, whilst personally effecting a large number of the staff as they had had strong and long term relationships with Erle, his death had very little impact on the day to day operations of the Group.
The business at this time was heavily slanted toward the sprinkler operation with the ratio being close to 2 1 for vehicles on the road. Two of the new geothermal plants in the Central region Kawerau and Rotokawa
